Contemporary Green & White Styled Shoot featured on BLOVED WEDDINGS BLOG
When One Events contacted me about doing a styled shoot at One Horse Guards, I could not hide my excitement. This venue is the ideal setting for a neutral styled shoot with its high ceilings, natural light and freshly painted white walls – I was in my element!
One Horse Guards is a Grade II listed building situated near Whitehall with mesmerising views over the Thames and some of London’s iconic landmarks such as the London Eye.
We based our shoot in the Jubilee Suite with its high, ornate ceilings and large windows taking you out into a spacious terrace with views over London. It is the perfect event space for that intimate wedding.
The concept for this shoot, as mentioned above, was a neutral shoot, as we really wanted to show off the light, bright and airy space within the venue. Our colour palette was green, white and cream, providing a fresh relaxed look.
A top table was set in the middle of the room with the gorgeous high windows providing as a backdrop of-providing natural light. We used the delicate, white taffeta linen from Over the top rentals, which provided a fresh base for us upon which we were able to paint our designs on. The tableware was by Amara, and really added to the style we were creating. Christian Lacroix porcelain charger plates helped to create a fabulous and opulent table setting. This plate, crafted from fine porcelain, features an intricate white relief pattern across the entire surface depicting the iconic Christina Lacroix design: it is elegant yet understated.
The flowers were created by the talented, Okishima & Simmonds. The concept has a simple, elegant and natural feel, in keeping with surroundings. We used hops, olive branches, white roses, dahlias, amaranthus, dill, astrantia, brachyglottis ‘otari cloud’, hydrangea, berried eucalyptus and astilbe. All of these delicate flowers allowed us to create a real dreamy effect for this shoot. We decided to add a bit of fun with the balloons with real floral strings. This added to the magnificence of our already gorgeous bride in her dress.
The dessert table was made by none other than the cake extraordinaire herself, Elizabeth of Elizabeth’s Cake Emporium. With the bright and white table came the bright and white cakes, with white floral patterns and white ribbon to make it extra feminine. And with that, we decided to throw in a slight colour pop of red, green and orange. Elizabeth made a selection of cupcakes, cake pops and macaroons, all adding to a decadent table.
The beautiful stationery was designed by the wonderful Anna Mallie Design whose bespoke and customisable stationery designs are sold in her Etsy Shop. We customised an existing design and printed ourselves using the ready-to-print files sent to us by Anna.
We had two exquisite bridal dresses by Federica Bruno and Alfred Angelo.
The first was designed by the gifted Italian designer, Federica Bruno, a flowing floral dress that went perfectly with Elizabeth’s cake design. With this we combined the delicate jewellery of Olivier Laudus. The hair was styled by Katy Richards. We decided to have an up-do of a low bun with a plait at the side. This look was elegant but fun with a modern twist using the plait and beautiful floral hairpiece by Olivier Laudus. Amanda White, one of my personal-favourite make-up artists, worked on our model’s face. We wanted a fresh natural looking face, with light tones of blusher accentuating her strong cheekbones and a nude colour lipstick enhancing the glowing and unblemished look we were creating.
The second dress was by the artistic Alfred Angelo. The dress is style 2480. This dress was so feminine and striking. It was a Satin Chiffon gown with Draped Sweetheart Neckline and an asymmetrically draped low waist. It had an A-line skirt, straps and a full sheer back, beaded & crystallized throughout making fantastic shots. This was finished of with a Chapel length train. Katy Richards fashioned a sweeping to the side hairstyle teamed with a floral headband by Olivier Laudus. I was particularly fond of this hairstyle due to its girly and soft look. Amanda went for soft pinks on this look to add to the femine style.
Thank you to a wonderful team that made this shoot come to life.
